Jessie Stensland reports for the Whidbey News-Times.
The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce is beginning the season with a candidate forum at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Orlando’s Southern BBQ at 656 SE Bayshore Drive.
The candidates for Oak Harbor mayor and city council seats will be at the forum. The event is open to the public but those hoping to attend need to register on the chamber’s website, oakharborchamber.com.
Regency on Whidbey in Oak Harbor is also holding candidate forums that are open to the public. They will take place in the Regency Activity Room.
The first is 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23. It will cover the Position 2 race between Chris Wiegenstein and Andy Plumlee and the Position 4 position race between John Chaszar and Barbara Armes.
Regency’s forum on the Oak Harbor mayor’s race is 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Ronnie Wright and Shane Hoffmire are vying for the position.
In addition, the League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island is holding its annual virtual forums. The educational events are planned for Oct. 18, 20 and 24. Not all the details have been worked out, but the Oct. 24 forum will include candidates for Langley races and the hospital district.
Zoom links will be posted on lwvwhidbey.org a day in advance of the forum event.
