Community Education: MEASLES
In the last few days, there has been a confirmed measles case in King County and a suspected case within Island County. Here’s what you can do to make sure you and those you care for stay protected:
– Vaccinate. It’s recommended that children receive two doses of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. Speak to your pediatrician for the dose schedule.
Symptoms of measles are: mild to moderate fever, cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis, onset rash starting from the hairline then spreading rapidly down the body. A history of 2 doses of MMR vaccine is recommended but does not guarantee immunity.
