The Island County Democrats publish a monthly newsletter, which we are posting here. We believe that the statements made by the leadership of each party is of general public interest.

Message from ICD Chair, Jennifer Haase Morris

Greetings, Democrats! How are you doing? Have you caught your breath from all of the activity over the past few days?

I wanted to take a few minutes to highlight a few things I hope you will take advantage of this week to stay focused on this extraordinary time for our democracy.

1) Your ballot should have arrived on Saturday or Monday. (If it doesn’t arrive by the 26th, contact the Elections Office.) Since the voters pamphlet included with your ballot only included information on local races for your district, I wanted to remind you that you can see the list of endorsements made by Island County Democrats and read more detailed information about state and judicial candidates on our website.  Check it out!

2) Nicole Ng-A-Qui, Chair of the 10th LD Democrats, is hosting two virtual opportunities for Democrats across the District to talk about President Biden’s decision to leave the race and endorse Kamala Harris. The only thing on the agenda will be the 2024 Presidential race. Here are the Zoom links for those meetings.

Thank you as well to Donna Connor and the Camano Island Democrats for swiftly setting up a time for Democrats to get together in person at the Camano Library on Thursday between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm to talk about the Presidential race.

I hope you’ll take advantage of one of these opportunities as your schedule allows.

    3) The Whidbey Island Fair is this weekend (7/25 – 7/28) and the Stanwood-Camano Fair is next week (8/2 – 8/4). This is a great opportunity to actually talk with people about this extraordinary moment in our democracy.

Volunteers are needed for multiple shifts this weekend at the Whidbey Fair in Langley. Please contact me to sign up for a 3-hour shift in the booth. Lots of fun activities to talk about how we can strengthen our democracy, get people out to vote, and share our Democratic values with the community.

Please reach out to Nicole Ng-A-Qui about the booth next weekend in Stanwood or use their sign-up form. Stanwood-Camano Fair Volunteer Sign-Up 10th LD

Stay strong! Stay hydrated! Vote! We need every single Democratic vote in the ballot box by August 6th. That is particularly critical for Dave Paul, Cldye [sic] Shavers and Janet St. Clair in their races.

    Thanks for all you do!

    Jennifer
