UPDATE: The ad ran again in the Oct. 27-Nov. 2, 2022 issue of the Whidbey Weekly.

The Whidbey Weekly ran this quarter-page advertisement on page 5 of their Oct. 20-26, 2022 issue.

Island County Commissioner Janet St. Claire [sic] voted in July to give $1.5 million of your tax dollars to a non-profit, private corporation to purchase a motel in Freeland for homeless housing.

Months before, she voted to spend $70,000 of your tax dollars to obtain an assessment of what that property was worth.

Commissioner St. Claire [sic] did not bother to read that assessment because she never asked for a copy. She just gave your money away anyway! In total, she wasted more than $1.5 million that could have been used to fight our fentanyl epidemic, improve public safety, or address our environment concerns here at home!

This is not leadership!

We deserve much better!

On election day, VOTE NO on Janet St. Claire [sic]. It’s time to stop her from wasting our money!
