Island County Sheriff

The Island County Sheriff's Office posted this to his Facebook page on .

The scammers are at it again. People are calling using the real names of Island County Sheriff’s Office employees wanting to speak with you about an “Urgent civil matter” or a warrant for your arrest. We will not contact you over the phone to settle these matters or request payment (see the post below regarding payment).

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office and it doesn’t seem legitimate contact us during business hours at 360-678-4422, or after hours via the Icom dispatch center at 360-679-9567 to see if one of our employees tried to contact you.

Repost from January 2024…
PSA for the day:
1) The Island County Sheriff’s Office will not cold call you seeking payment over the phone.

2) ICSO does not accept payment in the form of gift cards, PayPal, Venmo, Cashapp or Bitcoin. (also refer to #1)

3) If you actually have a warrant for your arrest, owe fines, or missed a court date, we will not cold call you asking for payment over the phone to take care of the issue (also refer to #1 and #2)

Bonus info..the person emailing you is not a prince/princess wanting to give you money, also you did not win a foreign lottery you did not enter.

We have received numerous complaints again about people calling claiming to be law enforcement seeking payment over the phone. It’s not real.

Thank you.
