Hello community members!

As we continue to inform the community about our upcoming Replacement Levy on the Feb. 13 ballot, we get asked about how this impacts a property owner’s taxes. Because voters approve a capped levy dollar amount (not a tax rate), if property values go up, the tax rate is generally adjusted downward so a school district does not collect more than what voters approved. This levy is asking voters to renew the existing levy, meaning property owners will continue paying about the same amount they’re currently paying for this levy.

We invite you to learn more about this topic in the coming weeks at in-person public informational Q&A sessions and in district communications. The next public information session is 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the Camano Island library. This event is available in-person and streaming online via our Facebook page.
