Registration is now open for a new alternative learning program for the upcoming school year. The South Whidbey School District is seeking new students for a pilot program that will focus on individualized, community-based learning that will take place outside the traditional schoolroom. The proposal for the new program was presented to the South Whidbey School Board who overwhelmingly agreed it was a good idea to pursue. “This is a huge, huge gain for our school district,” Board Member Ann Johnson said. Board Member Marnie Jackson said “It seems like our community has a tradition of collaboration and the more we collaborate, the richer our community becomes.” For all the details on this new program that is available to all students, even those who don’t live in South Whidbey, or even on Whidbey Island, see Kira Erickson’s complete story with all the details.
