The Black Lives Matter banner that hangs on the South Whidbey High School fence has been stolen for the second time. The theft was reported on Monday, August 2. School board members did not address the theft during their public workshop on August 11. Most board members maintain that the phrase “Black Lives Matter” is apolitical and meant only to affirm to black students in South Whidbey schools that they are safe and welcome. For the details, see the story by Karina Andrew in the South Whidbey Record.
