At the suggestion of South Whidbey School Board member Damian Greene, the board decided to vote two months early on a decision about renewing Superintendent Moccia’s contract for another three years. His reason for moving up the vote was due to concerns about possible electoral turnover of the board and he felt that those who had worked with the superintendent over the last year could make the decision early.

Following the 4-0 vote, Board member Marnie Jackson said, “It is a pleasure to extend the contract, and I’ve been very pleased to work with Dr. Moccia.”

Board President Brook Willeford said, “It’s been a pleasure to work with you throught the goal setting and execution, and I continue to be impressed with your flexibility and direction.”

Greene was not present at the meeting for the vote. For more details, see the story by Karina Andrew.
