The Stanwood-Camano School Board heard a report about Twin City Elementary and honored a Shining Star during its regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Twin City Elementary principal Jennifer Allen updated the board on the school’s annual action plan, goals, and results from monitoring their progress.

Afterward, she honored Cameron McGill with the Shining Star Award!

Also at the meeting, the Board heard reports from district staff about Secondary Early Withdrawal and the January finances.

Additionally, the school board approved a resolution directing the superintendent to prepare a reduced educational program for 2023-24 and a proposed 2023-24 operating budget that reduces expenditures to the level of reasonably anticipated revenues and/or the fund balance is at least maintained in accordance with School Board policy. The next scheduled School Board meeting is 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in the boardroom at the Stanwood-Camano School District Administration & Resource Center at 26920 Pioneer Highway in Stanwood.

On the Ballot in November 2023

STANWOOD-CAMANO SCHOOL DISTRICT (NO. 401)
Directors. Three of the five director positions are scheduled to be on the ballot.
Position 3: Miranda Evans.
Candidates for Position 3 must live in director district 3; see the map at this link.
Position 4: Debbie Bayes.
Director Bayes was appointed after Ken Christoferson resigned his seat on Dec. 6, 2022. The position will be on the ballot in 2023 to fill the remainder of Christoferson’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2023, and the succeeding four-year full term, which ends Dec. 31, 2027.
Position 5: Natalie Hagglund.
Position 5 is an “at large” position; candidates may live anywhere in the district.
