ELECTIONS 2024: League of Women Voters Oct. 2025 South Whidbey candidate forum [VIDEO]

The League of Women Voters Whidbey Island (LWVWI) hosted a forum for candidates via Zoom on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. The forum consisted of three candidate segments: for Coupeville School Board, Langley City Council, and South Whidbey School Board. Participating candidates included:
Coupeville School District No. 204
- Position 2: Nancy Conard
- Position 3: Bryan Sherman
- Position 5: Morgan White
Candidates were asked questions about the district’s role in student mental and emotional health, community input vs. expert recommendations, and the district’s academic and operational goals. Candidates were allowed two minutes for closing statements.
Langley City Council
- Position 1: Thomas E. Gill
- Position 2: Dominique Emerson
- Position 5: Savannah Erickson
Dominique Emerson did not participate.
Candidates were asked questions about balancing the shortage of affordable housing vs. overdevelopment, prioritizing infrastructure upgrades, and diversifying Langley’s economy. Candidates were allowed two minutes for closing statements.
South Whidbey School District No. 206
- Position 2: Andrea Downs
- Position 5: Gwendy Gabelein and Ann Johnson
Candidates were asked questions about improving academic outcomes; conflicts around diversity, equity and inclusion policies; and budget transparency. Candidates were allowed two minutes for closing statements.
