ELECTIONS 2026 / DAVE PAUL: Update on our work

Rep. Dave Paul (D-Oak Harbor) sent the following email from his campaign account on Sun. June 29, 2025.
Dear Friends,
The 2025 Legislative Session was challenging with our state facing significant budget shortfalls. I’m proud of my work to protect important priorities for our community, including expanding special education funding and protecting our ferry system from cuts.
At the same time, our state is facing significant threats from the federal government. Important programs have been slashed. Our basic and fundamental rights are under attack. Many of our neighbors—including refugees who have legal asylum status—live in fear of being deported. The U.S. Supreme Court has significantly restricted the ability of lower courts to check an out-of-control president.
While most Americans disapprove of these policies, MAGA Republicans in Washington want to go even further. State Republican Chair Jim Walsh wants to end vote-by-mail and restrict the ability of working Washingtonians and seniors from participating in elections. Vote by mail is proven to be secure—and it increases voter turnout.
I guess the last thing that people like Jim Walsh want is for more Washingtonians to have their voice heard. Let’s stand up together and make sure that doesn’t happen.
With the Legislative Session over, I’m back to work in our district. I’m already meeting with constituents and preparing new legislation for the 2026 Session. As Chair of the Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee, I’m collaborating with colleges, apprenticeship programs, K12 educators, and employers to strengthen workforce training programs and college pathways. I’m leading efforts to improve our ferry system.
But I can’t do this work without your help. We know our next election will be challenging, and it’s important that we do the work this summer and fall to prepare for it.
Can you donate to our campaign this weekend, and help jumpstart our work?
[Ed. Note: Donate button omitted.]
As always, it’s an honor to serve as your representative.
Sincerely,
Dave
