I strongly support Initiative 2066, which stops the gas ban and protects energy choice. Over 546,000 people signed this initiative to repeal HB 1589. The new law would do next to nothing to help our environment.

According to the Building Industry Association of Washington, HB 1589 would eventually force natural gas customers to electrify their home at an average cost of $40,000. Electric customers would be impacted too and would likely face 33% increases on their utility bill. HB 1589 was also passed as WA’s energy grid has been strained and we are seeing more & more blackouts. It’s bad policy and hurts our community. Many WA families and individuals simply cannot afford HB 1589 and need I-2066.

My opponent, Rep. Clyde Shavers, voted for a far more expensive and more restrictive version of HB 1589. Our leaders in power are incredibly out of touch. It’s time we elect new leaders who know that many families and individuals are struggling. With your support, we will decrease, not continue to increase, your cost of living.
