Candidate for State Representative Karen Lesetmoe (R-Oak Harbor)
Karen Lesetmoe, once-and-future candidate for Oak Harbor School Board

Ed. Note: In our daily postings about Filing Week 2023, we noted that Karen Lesetmoe‘s name appeared on the Candidates Who Have Filed list on Monday, May 15, 2023, having filed to run for Oak Harbor School District, Director 1. On Tuesday she disappeared from the list entirely, which is peculiar. We reached out to Mrs. Lesetmoe for a statement. She responded on Thursday, and was gracious enough to allow us to share her remarks.

It wasn’t my intention to run against Lynn Goebel. I deeply appreciate Lynn Goebel’s years of dedication and service to Oak Harbor students and families. It was just computer keystroke error on my part. When I discovered I had filed for the wrong position I called the county auditors office right away to remove my name. I still plan on running for a school board position because as a parent and grandparent, I have a vested interest in our children’s education and the future of our schools in this community.
