Island County Board of Commissioners – Work Session

The regularly-scheduled work session of the Island County Board of Commissioners for the third Wednesday of September 2021 The agenda for the meeting can be found at this link.
The Commissioners will hear from:
- Helen Price Johnson, interim manager of the Ebey’s Landing National Reserve with a presentation on the reserve, and Gordon Thomas Honey well with a discussion of legislative priorities.
- Treasurer Wanda Grone with her Treasurer’s Report.
- Human Resources Director Catherine Reid on a collective bargaining agreement with the Washington State Council of County and City Employees (WSCCCE) Local 1845; a resolution authorizing purchase of insurance coverage for county employees through the Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB), and a discussion on renegotiating the contract of the GSA Director.
- Facilities Director Larry Van Horn for a discussion of an Ad-hoc Art Committee for the county Administration Building, and of replacement of the kitchen oven at the Ituha Stabilization Center in Oak Harbor, which opened in March 2021.
- Public Works Director and County Engineer Bill Oaks on the 2022 Annual Construction Program (ACP).
- Health Services Director Keith Higman on designating the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners as the authorized representative of the county for the Island County Shore Friendly Program (in cooperation with the state Recreation and Conservation Office), and an amendment to the agreement for that project to increase the cost of the project from $132,000 to $301,737, and an amendment to the county’s professional services agreement with Herrera Environmental Consulting to increase the contract total up to $90,000 for technical services for this program. Director Higman will also discuss the county’s Marine Resources Committee 2021 Needs Assessment.
- COVID Response Manager Don Mason to discuss the COVID Response Team’s communications plan and give an update on their work.
