Island County Board of Commissioners – Work Session
February 9, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The Board of County Commissioners meets in Work Session routinely on the first three Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise scheduled). Work sessions are public meetings which provide an opportunity in an informal workshop format for the Board to review in detail ongoing issues with individual departments and elected officials. This time also is used for the Board to meet with other agencies, committees and groups to discuss specific topics of mutual interest. Items are typically first reviewed at Work Session before being scheduled on the agenda for the Board’s regular business meetings held on Tuesdays.
The work session agenda can be found at this link.
Topics of interest include: presentations by board staff updating the commissioners on the Snohomish Conservation District, the Housing Authority of Island County, and an appointment to the Law and Justice Committee; a discussion of the consolidated contract with the state Department of Health by the Public Health department; discussion with HR Director Catherine Reid regarding the labor agreement with the Sheriff’s staff, the contraction with the new Facilities Director, and a contract with GMP Consulting to help recruit a County Administrator; discussion with Human Services Director Lynda Austin on an amendment to the state Department of Commerce Consolidate Homeless grant to add hotel leasing and rapid re-housing funds; and discussions with Budget Manager Doug Martin on the January 2022 sales tax report, an update on rural county economic development funds, and an update on the county’s use of American Rescue Plan Act funds.
