Island County Commissioners – Work Session
April 13, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The Island County Commissioners meet in Work Session routinely on the first three Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise scheduled). Work sessions are public meetings which provide an opportunity in an informal workshop format for the Board to review in detail ongoing issues with individual departments and elected officials. This time also is used for the Board to meet with other agencies, committees and groups to discuss specific topics of mutual interest. Items are typically first reviewed at Work Session before being scheduled on the agenda for the Board’s regular business meetings held on Tuesdays. The agenda for the meeting can be found at this link.
Topics of interest include:
- Facilities: An update on work-in-progress, including the reconfiguration of the law library.
- Human Services: A review of the contract with the North Shore Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization for the Recovery Navigator Program.
- Public Health / Natural Resources: An agreement with the Northwest Straits Marine Conservation Foundation for the Hoypus Point Shoreline Restoration near the Deception Pass Marina; an update on the Water Resource Advisory Committee; and the discussion of the qualification of three potential consultants for a JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion) Consultant for the Local Integrating Organization (LIO).
- Community Development / Long Range Planning: a presentation on open permit reports.
