Island County – Board of Commissioners Work Session
May 4, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The Island County Commissioners meet in Work Session routinely on the first three Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise scheduled). Work sessions are public meetings which provide an opportunity in an informal workshop format for the Board to review in detail ongoing issues with individual departments and elected officials. This time also is used for the Commissioners to meet with other agencies, committees and groups to discuss specific topics of mutual interest. Items are typically first reviewed at Work Session before being scheduled on the agenda for the Commissioners’ regular business meetings held on Tuesdays. The agenda for this workshop can be found at this link.
Topics of interest include:
- Public Works: a request to increase the Public Works Director’s signature authority for contracts and purchase orders from $20,000 to $50,000.
- Health Department / Department of Natural Resources: proposed acquisition and Maintenance & Operations project applications for the 2022 Conservation Futures Fund cycle.
- Budget Manager: a presentation on applications received for the 2022 cycle of the Rural County Economic Development fund; a presentation on sales tax receipts for April 2022; a discussion of the timeline for the creation and adoption of the 2023 county budget; and a discussion on permission to perform due diligence work on property for Affordable Housing.
- Commissioner’s Office: An update on the proposal for the Port of Coupeville to acquire and operate the A. J. Eisenberg Airport located just south of Oak Harbor.
