Island County Commissioners – Builders and Developers Listening Session

BUILDERS AND DEVELOPERS LISTENING SESSION

On Wednesday, October 18th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s hearing room in Coupeville, the Board of Island County Commissioners will be hosting a listening session along with area professionals. Meeting access will also be available at the Camano Annex Building and via Zoom. The session is meant to bring a better understanding of the challenges being faced in the Island County permitting process.

This will be a facilitated meeting. Speakers have been pre-selected from the building, septic, and permitting agent industries to ensure that the Board has adequate time to hear concerns and ask relevant clarifying questions. County staff will also be in attendance in a listening capacity only.

The goal is to reach a common understanding of the problems that need to be addressed, as well as, what in our process we want to preserve and protect.

The main question being asked is:
What are the major challenges you are experiencing with Island County’s permitting process?
If you are not selected to speak at the meeting comment forms will be available on-site or can be emailed to you after the meeting. There will be a sign-up sheet available to give us your email. Comments are always welcome at CommentBOCC@islandcountywa.gov.
