Oak Harbor City Council – Workshop

The regularly-scheduled workshop session of the Oak Harbor City Council for April 2022. The agenda for the meeting can be found at this link and the full meeting packet can be found at this link. Workshop sessions are generally briefing sessions with city staff; no votes are taken.
Topics of interest include:
- ADMINISTRATION: a presentation by Andree Hurley, executive director of Washington Water Trails, asking the council to permit camping for nonpowered boaters in a designated area of Windjammer Park.
- DEVELOPMENT SERVICES: a discussion of a zoning code revision to permit temporary gravel roads and parking lots in larger parks, driven by financial concerns constructing roadways and parking lots at the new Harbor Heights Sports Complex; a discussion of reducing minimum lot sizes to increase residential density in the city; and discussion of four additional proposals to revise the zoning code, relating to fire sprinkler requirements, alteration or restoration of existing buildings, permitted principal uses in industrial zoning, and removing the requirement of a property owner to reside on the site of an accessory dwelling unit.
- MARINA: an update on dredging the marina.
- ENGINEERING: a presentation on a proposal to make the city’s Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping data available online via the internet; and a proposed ordinance to revise the city’s water main provisions in the municipal code.
