FPIW: Olympia 101 Citizen Orientation Training

Share

The Family Policy Institute of Washington (FPIW) has announced the dates for their Olympia 101 Citizen Orientation Training. In past years, this training has taken place on the Capitol Campus in Olympia; due to the coronavirus pandemic, the training will be virtual. For more details and to sign up, go to https://www.fpiw.org/get-involved/olympia-101/. Training sessions will be conducted in February, March, and April.

(EDITOR: While this training is put on by FPIW, the trainers do not discuss FPIW’s specific policy stances. We have attended this training, and it is an excellent overview of the legislative process and how you can interact with your legislators.)

FPIW Olympia 101 Citizen Orientation Training: Learn to Navigate your State Government

Olympia 101 is the Family Policy Institute of Washington (FPIW) signature citizen orientation training to inform, equip and mobilize ordinary citizens for purposeful, authentic, and effective action in support of good public policy in Washington State. The training accomplishes this by offering citizens the opportunity to learn about their state government through a unique, step-by-step, dynamic experience that uses the Capitol Campus as its “classroom.”

Unfortunately, FPIW will not be able to offer Olympia 101 trainings at the Capitol.

This year, the 2021 Legislative Session will be 100% virtual. Therefore, Olympia 101 will also be offered virtually, via Zoom. While not as engaging as navigating among the sights and sounds of our State Capitol, I’m confident our time together will be meaningful and fun!

Please email grassroots@fpiw.org if you have any questions. Specially scheduled Olympia 101 virtual sessions are available upon request.
