Marie Shimada (D-Freeland), candidate for Island County Commissioner, District 1, posted this on her Facebook page on .

Friends,

Election week can feel both exciting and stressful. Our team feels the primary results, which will be officially certified later in August, are very promising.

When I launched this campaign last fall, I committed to positivity as the driving value. For me, it was a reflection of our positive community. JOY is now driving the newly-charged presidential race in a way that mirrors the momentum we have captured here in Island County.

Success in November is possible with the support of friends like you. Team Marie will again be holding events, knocking doors, writing postcards, and waving signs. We will be showing Districts 2 and 3 what our energetic and clean campaign is all about, and we really need you to help us get there.

I look forward to continuing to serve our community in this campaign for a better future.

🩷Marie
