Jill Johnson (R-Oak Harbor), candidate for Island County Commissioner, District 2, posted this on her Facebook page on .
Great reminder from Camano Island Fire and Rescue. We may not be able to help with their math homework…but we can all help keep kids safe!
School starts tomorrow (Sept. 3) for most students on Camano.
We’re partnering with the Stanwood-Camano School District to make sure you remember the rules for safely stopping or driving near school buses and in school zones.
🛑 ALWAYS stop if you’re traveling in the same direction as the school bus.
🛑 On a two-lane road, traffic in both directions needs to stop.
🛑 Even if you aren’t required to stop, drive with caution.
🛑 Failure to stop for a school bus can run you a $500 ticket.
🛑 Remember that 20 mph school zones are active again — so drive cautiously near schools and crosswalks!
