Healthy Youth Survey information
The Stanwood-Camano School District posted this on its website on 2025-09-21 17:00:00.

Our students will have the opportunity to participate in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey this fall. The survey window is October 6-24. Surveys should take one class period (45 minutes) to complete. We will communicate with you the day and time our school will complete the survey.
The survey is an opportunity for students to provide valuable feedback that can help guide the future of our district and our state. The survey asks questions about various topics, including social relationships, mental health, substance use, and injury risks.
Key information about the survey:
- Who is surveyed? Students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 across Washington State will be asked to take the survey.
- Is it voluntary? Yes. Participation is completely voluntary. Students can skip any question or stop at any time — no penalty, no follow-up.
- Does it affect grades or school records? No. This is not a test. There are no right or wrong answers. Results are not used for grades, discipline, eligibility, or placement.
- How is privacy protected? The survey is anonymous. Students do not put their names on the survey, and no codes are collected that could link responses to a specific student. Staff do not see individual responses. Schools receive only combined summaries (for example, by grade level) so no single student can be identified.
- What data is collected? Only the answers students choose to provide to the posted questions. No personal identifiers are collected. Responses are used only for public-health and education planning — not for marketing or advertising.
- Why are some questions sensitive? Some topics (like mental health or substance use) help identify trends so schools and community partners can target supports and prevention efforts. Students may always skip any question they do not want to answer.
- Can families review the questions? Yes. You can read the survey in advance here: https://www.askhys.net/Resources/SurveyQuestionnaires.
- Please note: Questions related to sexual behavior and sexual violence will not be included in the survey given in our schools
