Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District

Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District, posted this on her Facebook page on .

Hi everybody,

I wanted to share a few thoughts while we wait for more ballots to be counted in our race.

I am, like many of you, very sad to see the Republican victories at the Presidential level and in the U.S. Senate. I am still hopeful that we will win back the House of Representative and maintain an essential check on Trump’s White House.

With Republicans gaining ground across the country, it’s crucial that we do not let those same policies shape our district and our state. I entered this race to ensure a strong Democratic majority in our state senate to protect a women’s right to chose in Washington after the Dobbs decision took away decades of federal protections. I will always fight to protect your rights and uplift our community. Now more than ever, we need elected officials who will be a check on dangerous national policies that will threaten our communities values and freedoms. We cannot allow the rollback of these rights, the cutting of crucial funding for education or the lapse in environment protection that my opponent supports to become the status quo in our state. I believe the voters of this district agree.

Thank you to everyone who supported me in this campaign. Thank you to all of those who have taken time out of their day to make phone calls, write postcards and knock on doors. Thank you to all of those who have been so generous and donated to our campaign. I hope you all know how grateful I am.

I look forward to updating you further as we wait to see the final vote count, and I look forward to being the greatest possible advocate for the beautiful part of this country that we all call home.
