LEGISLATIVE NEWS / DAVE PAUL: House Bill 1791 has been signed into law!

I am pleased to share House Bill 1791 has been signed into law! This law removes outdated restrictions on Real Estate Excise Tax (REET) revenues, allowing cities and counties – especially smaller and rural communities – to invest in affordable housing, homelessness services, and other critical needs without raising taxes. By giving communities the flexibility they need, we are empowering local governments to respond to housing challenges with sustainable, community-driven solutions.

This idea came from the City of Oak Harbor—and will benefit communities across our state.
