In this week’s edition of Scam Roulette, we have scammers calling claiming to be from Amazon, USAA or various banks, using an appropriate looking caller ID.
The scammer tells the victim that their account has been drained due to fraud then gives them a new number to call to “verify” their account information. The victim is asked to provide bank account information, credit card information or other personal information which the scammer uses to drain the victim’s accounts.
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be your bank or credit card company, DO NOT provide them any information, hang up and contact your bank using a number from their website or your account statement (do not use a number the caller provides).
