Island County Commissioner Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island) sent the following email to constituents on Fri., Jul. 7, 2023.
Hello All-
Summer is here and as always, filled with wonderful opportunities to make a difference, build community, and have fun. Here are a few of my favorites.

This Saturday there are a couple of ways to get involved. On Camano, check out Sound Water Stewards “Discover Iverson Spit Preserve” educational outreach event from 11 am – 2 pm. If you attend, please remember this is also a neighborhood…drive slow (25 mph) and park in the designated parking lot at the end of Iverson Rd. Learn how to be a good steward of our beautiful islands.
This Saturday, if you drive by our local airfields, you might notice activity. These are our emergency preparedness volunteers engaging in a statewide exercise with the Disaster Airlift Response Teams practicing delivery of emergency supplies in case of a disaster. The food being delivered will then go to local food banks.
Whidbey Camano Tourism Board has shifted their focus and the Board of County Commissioner’s is supporting the new way to welcome visitors to our islands. Transformative tourism helps visitors join in making our communities sustainable. Here’s a chance to learn more.
