Island County Commissioner Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island) sent the following from her campaign email account on Feb. 28, 2022:
Thank you for your support and confidence as we move forward on the campaign. The launch events were quite successful despite the challenges of Omicron. We made it happen and folks showed up! Our in-person event was chilly as we moved outdoors to keep everyone safe. Attendance was good with bundled and mittened guests. All we needed was Bernie in his handknit gloves to make it an iconic pandemic event. We facilitated the on-line campaign launch with over 40 people engaging well despite the Hollywood Squares format we are all so tired of seeing. Thank you to all who attended and supported the campaign.
Next step is to extend our outreach, especially where we can engage new audiences. My first ask is to request you to be willing to host a virtual or in-person House Party. While there will always be an “ask”, these events are important to me mostly to listen, answer questions, tell my story and continue to craft priorities that reflect the needs of the people in Island County. Because of the dynamic nature of this pandemic, we are following guidance but also making our own choices on these events. As the indoor mask mandate will end March 21, we think it wise to watch the case rates for the following month or so before pivoting to in-person, indoor events. If you would like to host a virtual House Party in the next month or so, please let us know.
