January is School Board Recognition Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our dedicated School Board members.

School Board members are locally elected officials who serve without pay and volunteer countless hours on behalf of our students, staff, and community. Their work includes setting district policy, adopting the annual budget, establishing long-term goals, and hiring and supporting the superintendent — all with a focus on student success and responsible stewardship of public resources.

We are grateful for the time, thoughtfulness, and commitment our board members bring to this important role.

Community members are always welcome to see the Stanwood-Camano School District School Board in action by attending a board meeting in person or watching online. The next meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.
