The following is a memorandum written by Island County Commissioner Jill Johnson (R-Oak Harbor) regarding a proposed reorganization of the Island County Joint Tourism Board. The memo was discussed during the Island County Commissioners work session of Wed., July 2, 2025.
Ed. Note: It’s difficult to determine the exact name of the board. Commissioner Johnson refers to it in the memo as the “Joint Tourism Advisory Board.” Commissioner Melanie Bacon (D-Langley) introduced the discussion at the work session by referring to the “Island County Joint Tourism Board.” Commissioner Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island) generally refers to it as the “JAB” (Joint Advisory Board), which is how the board is described in the county’s list of boards and commissions. The board refers to itself on its website as the “Whidbey and Camano Islands Tourism Committee.”
