State Representative Dave Paul (D-Oak Harbor) sent out the following email from his campaign account on Mon., Jul. 3, 2023.

Friends,

I’ve heard from so many about the importance of improving healthcare in our community. Here’s a quick update on some of the work I’ve done since session ended.

It’s clear we have much to do to increase support for behavioral health, including mental health and addiction. I recently met with two of the non-profit agencies that play a key role in providing these services in the 10th District.

First, I met with Tom Sebastian, CEO of COMPASS Health to discuss improving mental health services in our community. I also got a tour of Andy’s Place, which provides supportive housing in Snohomish County.

I also met with officials of Pioneer Health Services and received a tour of the Ituha Stabilization Facility in Oak Harbor, which provides short-term stabilization services for those facing a substance use or mental health crisis. It was terrific to meet the staff and healthcare providers and learn more about their efforts to support those in crisis in Island County.

Caregivers play a critical role in supporting many—including senior and disabled community members—continue to live independently in their homes. I recently met with SEIU 775 leaders, caregivers, and their clients to thank them for their service—and hear how our state can better support this important work.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to meet with me since the session ended.

As always, it’s an honor to serve as your representative.

Dave
