My opponent Jill Johnson -Island County Commissioner, Dist. 2 seems to be confused about a very relevant and valid discussion we had at the triple Chambers forum last week.

I was bringing to light the fact that many Island County residents, particularly those 40 and under, do have side hustles as the cost of living has become so burdensome that one job is not enough.

I have not and would not ever refer to a county commissioner job as a “side hustle,” but I do respect that many of you are working overtime as parents, Doordashers, and retirees who aren’t quite as retired as you’d like.

If this is the way in which she wishes to campaign, I wish her all the best because there’s certainly a lot I too could quote, with cited sources and recordings instead of just paraphrasing an important discussion she misinterpreted and added quotations marks to in an effort to add legitimacy.

It’s a shame that after 12 years in her position there are not enough policy propositions or positive accomplishments she can find from her own tenure to fill her social media with, as I have done here on my page and will continue to do.
