NORTH WHIDBEY: Oak Harbor Candidate Forum [VIDEO] (LWV)
The League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island (LWVWI) live-streamed a candidate forum via YouTube on Wed., Oct. 18, 2023. The forum featured four segments:
- North Whidbey Fire and Rescue District. Scott Jackson, a candidate for Commissioner, Position 1 gave a statement. His opponent, incumbent T. J. Lamont, did not respond to the LWV invitation.
- Oak Harbor Mayor. Candidates Shane Hoffmire and Ronnie Wright responded to six rounds of questions followed by closing statements.
- Oak Harbor City Council. Candidates for Position 2 (Chris Wiegenstein and Andy Plumlee) and Position 4 (John Chaszar and Barbara Armes) were given four rounds of questions followed by closing statements.
- Oak Harbor School District. Candidates for four director positions handled four rounds of questions then gave closing statements. The candidates included: for Position 2, Jessica Aws (her opponent, Karen Lesetmoe, did not respond to the invitation); for Position 3, Josh MacLean & Fred Wilmot; for Position 4, Nicole Tesch (her opponent, Jessica Thompson, did not respond); and for Position 5: William “Will” Smith and Sharon Jensen.
The forum was moderated by Deb Wright and Carla Grau-Egerton and lasted approximately two hours.
