The City of Oak Harbor issued the following press release on Tue., Dec. 10, 2024 on the city’s website.

Oak Harbor – December 9, 2024 – The City of Oak Harbor will host two B&O (Business and Occupation) Tax Talks on December 18 at 1:00pm and 6:00pm virtually.

The City is discussing options surrounding the proposed implementation of a B&O Tax, to support funding of the Oak Harbor Marina.

The City hosted two public open houses this year which gave residents a chance to review the future of the Marina options and to ask questions. The goal of the open houses was to review what the City knows about the Marina and use the discussions to prepare for presenting options to City Council. As part of those discussions, the City’s Deputy City Administrator, David Goldman will host the two B&O Tax Talks to inform business owners if/how their business will be affected.

The proposed B&O Tax is designed with a high revenue threshold, which means only businesses meeting specific financial criteria would be affected. The city estimates that a small percentage of businesses would fall within this threshold, minimizing the overall impact on the broader business community.

Those interested in attending the virtual B&O Tax Talks should RSVP via email or call to Magi Aguilar at maguilar@oakharbor.org or 360-279-4501. You will receive a confirmation email that includes the link for the virtual meeting.
