OAK HARBOR: Josh MacLean Elected as New School Board Director (OHSD)

Oak Harbor residents voted to elect Josh MacLean as the newest member of the Oak Harbor School Board. MacLean fills the position of former director Bob Hallahan who served eight years in the Position 3 seat.
MacLean is a father to five children in the Oak Harbor Public Schools and says that he believes board members should be humble in the face of representing the concerns of families within the district. He believes in focusing on student needs when making any decision.
MacLean has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Utah Valley University. He works as an analyst at Skagit Valley Hospital and has experience working closely with executives to evaluate plans, forecast costs, and mitigate risks.
“I have an eye for detail that has come from my background in analyzing data,” said MacLean. “I believe I can use this experience to help the students in our district. I take great care to back up decisions and positions I take with hard data and facts.”
MacLean has volunteered with Oak Harbor Public Schools and is a member of his tribe’s education council, The Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. He is also a volunteer youth basketball coach and was a leader in Boy Scouts for several years
“I’ve been impressed by the dedication of Oak Harbor teachers, staff, and students,” MacLean said. “I will work to amplify their efforts and always focus on the students’ future.”
MacLean was sworn in at the December 11 board meeting along with Lynn Goebel, Jessica Aws, Nicole Tesch, and Sharon Jensen, who were all elected to continue serving during the Nov. 7 General Election.
