Rep. Dave Paul’s campaign email account (dave@votedavepaul.com) sent the following email on Tue., Jul. 6, 2021:

Dear Friends,

The last few weeks have been busy, and I’ve had the opportunity meet with constituents and local leaders from Stanwood to South Whidbey to learn about community priorities. I also participated in this year’s Fourth of July Parade in Oak Harbor, and it was great to see so many friends and community groups at the parade. Special thanks to Beth and Eli for helping with the parade!

I’m already hard at work planning for the next legislative session. I’m grateful for all that we’ve accomplished over the last three years, and here’s a quick update on two of the key community investments I’ve championed in the state legislature.

I’ve heard from so many of you about the importance of improving housing affordability and expanding substance use treatment services in our community. The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is addressing both of these key community priorities, and I cosponsored the Tribe’s capital request to expand its didgwálič Wellness Center. I’m very pleased that state capital budget included $4.5 million to support addiction recovery and help build 32 units of affordable housing. This will help residents across our community. Childcare is also critical to our community. We know access to quality and cost-effective childcare is an important economic development tool, enabling parents to participate in the workforce or get training. I’m proud to have supported HB 1213 last session, which will expand childcare and early learning in our community and state. The Legislature also provides funding to the Washington State Department of Commerce to assist local agencies with increasing childcare services, and I’m very pleased to see the groundbreaking for Skagit Valley College’s new childcare center. This important project will help parents, children, and our community greatly. Learn more here:

I’m proud to champion these kinds of investments in our community—and to put your priorities first in our Legislature.

As always, it’s an honor to serve as your state representative.

Sincerely,

Dave
