Our cadet class learns more than just firefighting skills: We also teach career skills, like preparing for job interviews. This week, all our cadets did practice interviews.
Then our juniors – who will return to the program as seniors next year – practiced conducting interviews. Working as a panel, they got to interview students who want to join the cadet program next year.
Those prospective cadets also got a taste of what it’s like to be part of the program – literally. They ran a timed physical fitness test that involved a weighted vest, stairs, moving hoses and dummy victims, push ups, and planks. Oh. And a mile run, just to warm up.
