This month’s record flood on the Skagit River would have been even more disastrous if the state did not invest $13 million into the Mount Vernon Downtown Flood Protection Project, which was completed in 2019. I’m so thankful we were able to make this happen because the floodwall did its job to protect our community when we needed it the most.

Thank you, Governor Bob Ferguson, Senator Patty Murray and Senator Maria Cantwell, for visiting Mount Vernon so we could discuss the impact of the disaster on our community–and our path to a full recovery.
