Yesterday, South Whidbey Elementary School enjoyed a day time school assembly and an evening family event with the Reptile Man. Students were excited, entranced and amazed at the multiple reptiles he presented. Students yelled out the answers to question — What makes a reptile? scales, backbone, cold blooded, eggs, on land and more. They learned that a tortoise is a turtle that doesn’t swim, it digs tunnels on land, sometimes thirty feet long, and can live over 200 years. At the evening family event, over four hundred students, staff, parents, and guardians attended and enjoyed the opportunity to touch and feel these prehistoric animals.
