Our Stanwood High freshman class is making incredible strides!
SHS staff regularly reviews student performance and data. Using this information, they tailored educational efforts and challenged students to increase their grades. The students responded and met their first goal — earning a classwide cookie celebration Friday after school! The next goal is to see even more freshmen increase grades by the end of the first semester.
Why does this matter so much? Research shows that the strongest predictor of on-time high school graduation is staying on track after freshman year. That’s why, for the past three years, Stanwood High School has partnered with the Center for High School Success to develop strategies that support and empower our 9th graders.
One freshman shared how much she appreciates SHS teachers, saying, “They’re really good about giving us opportunities and pushing us to get work done so we can pass.”
We’re so proud of this progress and look forward to seeing the amazing achievements that lie ahead.
