Four Stanwood High School students are headed to state after a strong season of Knowledge Bowl competition.

Team 007 took 2nd place among 3A teams in two of their three regular-season meets and earned 1st place at the Glacier Peak meet with a personal best 89 points. They followed that with a 2nd place finish at the District competition at Kamiak High — securing a spot at the Washington state Knowledge Bowl Tournament on March 21 in Wenatchee.

Knowledge Bowl is a fast-paced academic competition where teams collaborate to answer questions spanning history, science, math, literature, current events and more.

Congratulations to Colin Manzuk, Thomas Mendez, Scott McNeill, and Levi Sparwasser, along with advisor Paige Watson, on an outstanding season.

Want to test your knowledge? Here’s a sample question the team answered at one of their final meets:

On December 24, 1777, Captain James Cook and his crew landed on what island, the largest coral atoll in the world?

Good luck at state, Spartans.
