SOUTH WHIDBEY: Mozer resigns again from port

For the second time, Port of South Whidbey Executive Director Angi Mozer is resigning.

Mozer, who has been at the helm of the port district for the past two years, submitted her official resignation to the board of commissioners Monday, giving notice of her leave well in advance.

Mozer also served as the port’s executive director from 2014 to 2018. In 2023, she returned to the role when port commissioners were in search of a new leader.

As the spouse of a military service member, Mozer’s reason for resigning is similar to last time; her husband will be deploying later this year, and she will be needed to provide more support for her family during this time.

“I am grateful that the Port extended this opportunity to me for a second time,” she wrote in her resignation letter. “Working for the Port has been rewarding and I am grateful to the Commissioners and staff who have provided their support to me as a leader of this small but mighty organization.”

“It was such a wonderful thing that you could come back when you did, because we were in a tough situation when we lost our last executive director,” Commissioner Curt Gordon said this week during the port’s monthly meeting.

“I hope you know how much personally I’ve appreciated the time and how dedicated you are,” Gordon said. “I can see why you can’t do both, honestly, you’re so dedicated to what you’re doing for us so appreciate that very much. We’ll take the next step here.”
