Island Time: Maintenance & Operations Levy “For” and “Against” Committees Sought
The South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District sent the following email on Tuesday, November 23, 2021:
Replacement M & O Levy-“For” & “Against” Committees
On the February 2022 ballot, registered South Whidbey voters will be asked to consider funding the Parks system for the 4 years beginning in 2023.
This levy is a replacement of the expiring Maintenance and Operations levy and funds the District’s operations. The levy rate beginning in 2023 will be 22 cents per $1,000 of assessed value which is a 2 cent increase over the 2019 levy rate.
The District is seeking volunteers from the community to be on the “For” and “Against” committees for this measure. Each committee may have up to three individuals and is responsible for writing the “For” and “Against” statements for the Voter Guide and submitting them to the Elections Division in accordance with the timeline for the February election.
Interested parties should contact South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District Executive Director, Doug Coutts at dirswprd@whidbey.com or (360) 221-6488.
