Candidates Kay Kenneweg and Harolynne Bobis are competing with each other for election to Position 1 on the Langley City Council. The incumbent, Christy Korrow, decided against seeking re-election.

Kenneweg said she is looking forward to working with the other Langley staff for a future that involves “citizens, businesses, nonprofits, churches and art venues as a way to increase music and entertainment activities.” “While on Whidbey Island I have gotten kids to register to vote, which is a passion of mine, being a teacher and advocate for our democracy,” she said.

Bobis, a member of the city’s Dismantling Systemic Racism advisory group, is dissatisfied with the council and mayor’s previous actions. “I’m doing as much learning as I can about the issues facing Langley. I have my own issues as a resident and I have my own opinions, but I’ve been known to be wrong,” she said.
