Two more candidates have stepped forward to challenge Thomas Gill in the race to be the next mayor of Langley. Scott Chaplin and Roger Scrafford have both submitted applications for the position. Scott Chaplin is also running for election to Position 5 on the Langley City Council.
The Langley City Council will be appointing the new mayor following an interview with each candidate at the council meeting scheduled for Monday, June 21.
The story by Kira Erickson in the South Whidbey Record provides a brief biography of all three candidates. Of note, the story mentions that while Thomas Gill was against mandating anti-racism training for city staff, Chaplin is on the record stating, if appointed, he would mandate anti-racism training. Scrafford stated that while he would not mandate anti-racism training for city staff, he does acknowledge the existence of “societal or structural racism.”

- Position 1 – Kay Kenneweg vs Harolynne Bobis (Incumbent Christy Korrow not running for re-election)
- Position 2 – Rhonda Salerno is running unopposed (Incumbent Dominique Emerson not running for re-election
- Position 5 – Tony Gill vs Scott Chaplin (Incumbent Peter Morton not running for re-election)
