The Whidbey Island Fair could potentially be cancelled should the Island County Fair Association, which puts on the fair, and the Port of South Whidbey, which owns the fairgrounds property, fail to come to terms on a lease agreement within the next few days.
At a recent Island County Board of Commissioners work session, commissioners said that no government entities have made a firm commitment to own and operate the airport, despite the county’s offer of financial assistance.
Island County is hiring Michael Jones, currently the city manager in Blaine, WA, as the county’s first Administrator.
