North Whidbey Fire and Rescue District
WHIDBEY NEWS TIMES: Island County Sheriff Rick Felici wants someone with more specific qualifications to take over the role of county fire marshal.
WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: Christopher Swiger will begin negotiations to become the permanent chief of North Whidbey Fire and Rescue. The decision comes after two years of interim limbo and much anticipation from the North Whidbey crew.
The North Whidbey Fire and Rescue District posted an announcement on their Facebook page on Thu., Jan. 11, 2024. The district has not released details as to how the vacancy occurred; the position was held by Commissioner T.J. Lamont, who was re-elected in November 2023.

The League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island (LWVWI) live-streamed a candidate forum via YouTube on Wed., Oct. 18, 2023. The forum featured candidates for North Whidbey Fire and Rescue, Oak Harbor Mayor and City Council, and the Oak Harbor School District.
Carla Grau-Egerton, forum committee chair for the League of Women Voters Whidbey Island, is seeking questions for their upcoming forums.
