With a five-vote majority, the Oak Harbor City Council approved a resolution that supports adding a measure to the primary ballot to form the North Whidbey Metropolitan Pool, Park and Recreation District.
Officials are proposing to change the North Whidbey Pool, Park and Recreation District to a form of government that would allow the collection of property taxes without having to ask voters to pass a levy on a regular basis.
The North Whidbey Fire and Rescue District posted an announcement on their Facebook page on Thu., Jan. 11, 2024. The district has not released details as to how the vacancy occurred; the position was held by Commissioner T.J. Lamont, who was re-elected in November 2023.
