WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: The only public swimming pool on Whidbey Island will remain open if the North Whidbey Pool, Parks and Recreation District levy passes in the November election. If it doesn’t pass, the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool will close by the end of the year.

WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: A Langley-based environmental group recently filed a lawsuit against the city of Oak Harbor, claiming that a new ordinance which loosens the city’s restrictions on trading parkland violates the state’s code of ethics for municipal officers and the State Environmental Policy Act.
WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: When state Rep. Dave Paul met with Island County and Oak Harbor leaders regarding Ituha Stabilization Facility on 10th Ave. last week, it was a conversation of substance abuse, mental health services and homelessness in terms of both capital projects and policies.
WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: The state predicts the county’s population will grow from the current 87,000 people to nearly 103,000 in 20 years. The bulk of the housing for population increases is planned for urban areas, which in Island County largely means Oak Harbor.
